Three quick checks
Head height
Measure from the top of a ceiling joist to the underside of the ridge. Around 2.2 m or more is a good sign. Less can often be solved with a dormer or mansard.
Roof structure
Traditional rafters are simpler to convert. Modern trussed roofs can still be done, but need extra steelwork.
Planning
Many lofts in England fall under permitted development. Flats, conservation areas and mansards usually need planning permission. We check this for you.
